Hi,

Apologies if this is a silly question but can the RAM from an AMD CPU computer be used in an Intel CPU computer?

I was not aware of any difference but read somewhere that some RAM is only suitable for AMD CPU machines and cannot be used in an Intel CPU machine?

Specifically, I am looking at upgrading the RAM to a matched pair of 2 x 2gb SODIMM's in a Dell laptop where the current RAM is 1 x 2gb Hynix DDR2 PC2-5300S

Normally yes. Currently Intel cpus need 'low volt' ram, they recommend nothing over 1.65v where amd cpu / boards can take higher volts I believe. Possibly this is what had you confused?

it will work. But you MIGHT have to manually set RAM voltage, but as you are changing a pair unless you are overclocking the RAM voltage should be ok on auto.
