Looking to upgrade a family members PC for starfield. They are currently on a 1080ti and 8700k on a z370 mobo.

Looking at RX 6800/XT but seems SAM is quite important for performance.

I'm struggling to find a clear answer from Google does anyone know if I will be able to enable SAM if I upgraded the GPU?

There is a bios update to enable 4G decode and resizeable bar for their motherboard.

Yes. SAM is just AMD's marketing name for ReBAR. You can enable it just fine with an Intel CPU, so long as the motherboard supports it of course.

To update this thread it did work, it enabled no problem.

I do however have a memory leak with it enabled in RDR2 which doesn't seem to be widely reported. So maybe it's a little buggier on older platforms

EDIT*

Also it's not called SAM on a mixed set-up like mine, the AMD control panel actually renames that setting to just resizeable BAR so I'm not sure if the performance gains are as good.
