can smoke go through walls?

hi guys just a quick question ...myself and my wife smoke 20 pack of cigarettes a day between us ...most of them are in our living room or when we are out and about and we have 1 or 2 in bed before we go to sleep , tonight at 10:30pm our neighbor has knocked the door complaining that our smoke is coming though our bedroom wall into there kids room is this possible?

no windows open at this time of night when it cold lol all tho we do have one them air vent things in the top corner of window wall, but there windows are always shut as well apparently it going through the wall or ceiling and back down through there ceiling :S work that one out

the girl next door is also a smokey and smokes on back door under their kids bedroom

No holes in walls as just wall papered , the ceiling has that crappy artex stuff on roof which is recently painted as well and didnt see any holes. Im confused by all means id never want to put any kiddies health in danger i just cant see how smake can travell through wallpaper and brick walls.

I know smoking bad etc etc and if wasnt so cold in winter and windy like today id smoke outside like i do in our short summer......but my point is im all ways decorating cause wifes for ever changing her mind i use a lot of deodorizing sprays and jelly things you leave in windows as i have huskys and like to keep my house clean and smelling nice . i just want to know if it possible to travel through walls

I've experienced this myself, walls are not an impermeable barrier I'm afraid and vapor can travel through them.

id imagine itcan over a period of time but they have been there for about 4-5 months i only smoke a maximum of 2 a night in my bedroom and 1 in morning ...i cant see how it could leave a noticeable smoke mark or smell in there house ....i certainly dont get why they have left it till 10:30 tonight to tell me seem strange

im a fair person ...had a problem with them in past cause my dog had barked cause someone was in our back gardens ...if it is possible for it to happen like there saying i was thinking of redecorating bedrooms and swapping with my son but i dont feel i should have to do this as its my own home, very frustrating in one way i want to tell them to **** off and in another id never want to put there or any one kids health at risk

Without more information can't really know for sure but if theres solid brickwork inbetween an no open windows/venting as such it shouldn't really.

Mind you the previous occupants of the other house of the semi-detached we live in would smoke something that the smell of would on ocassion make its way through to the adjacent bedroom even with windows closed - and they weren't exactly trying to advertise what they were smoking.

i only smoke normal cigarettes i could undertstand if it was if other stuff that is potent .... our house classed as a semi detached i think out bedroom are joined but we have an alley way under them.

You should really move on to rolling your own as the smell is much more pleasant, or rather less harsh, and it's considerably cheaper anyway.

actually trying to quit now i rarely smoke at work ...i accasionally use one the e cigs aswell more vapour comes off one them than a normal cigerette ...can that travel through walls too lol

she actually was the one to come and knock the door aswell and it her at home all day while he's at work ...im really starting to thing shes had a cigarette in the house and blamed it on me .....they did offer to let me in and show me this mark on the wall or roof but i didnt feel comfortable going into there house wish i did now

if you read correctly 20 a day between 2 but maximum of 2 a night in bedroom . your opinions on smokers isnt really what im asking here is it

There is no gaps as recently decorated and would have noticed

If i wanted to quit i would and as for using vape i already do hence i only smoke 10 a day at most

As for cannabis its something i never intend to ever touch so that never going to be an issue

Please just stick to the fact of the question im asking if you want an anti smoking threat go make one elsewhere

yes ......not being funny but with recent weather and and time i get home from work im not gonna go stand out in cold and rain

Not sure if it can exactly, however my new neighbours smoke weed every other day. At first this wasn't really an issue, I'd only smell it if they did it on the street or with their front door open (Could not smell it in my room). However they have since started to smoke on their back door, or sometimes hanging out the bedroom window next to my window, and unfortunately this means the smell clings to the wall area at the back and seeps in through my windows as they have poor sealing and let in a fair bit of air. This now means I can smell their weed smell every time they've done it and have woken up several times this week as they are sparking up.

So although it may not be travelling through the walls, but could be travelling through poorly sealed windows / doors / vents. Have a word with them, a pleasent one, and try to come to an understanding. Don't do what my neighbour did and say 'It's my property I can smoke it wherever' yet know full well that smoke doesn't just sit where you smoke it and travels through the air.

have been very pleasant with them it justi feel very annoyed cause i cant see any possible way for them to say it coming from mine when she stands on here back door under her kids bedroom and smokes
