Hi guys,

I am having a few issues with online gaming and i was told i may need to open some ports in order to get my battlefield game to work. The strange thing was it worked fine with my old sagemcom sky router but i replaced it yesterday with an TP-Link 8960n bought from here. Again i was playing online fine but for some reason now i cannot connect to any servers at all.

I googled the ports that need to be open and they are

Port: 80 TCP
Port: 18121 TCP
Port: 18126 TCP
Port: 18126 UDP
Port: 13505 TCP

I have logged into the router and gone to the "NAT" tab and been given the options below, its just i dont know which one i should be using to open the ports. Also do you have to setup a static IP to open ports?

Really appreciate anyones help im kinda new to this having never had to configure this before, thanks again

Oh right, any ideas to why i cant seem to connect to any of the battlefield servers? This morning i was playing fine which makes it even more strange. I did have a similar issue last night where it wouldn't let me connect to any servers but i factory reset the router and it allowed me to connect fine again.

If you're talking about BFBC2 then I think allot of people (me inclusive) have been having intermittent problems with it for the last few days. Most likely problems with their authentication servers, or something...

Under normal conditions you shouldn't need to do any port forwarding to play battlefield. And the fact that you were playing fine on your new router earlier, without port forwarding, makes me think its probably something else.

oh ok thanks for that matey, its just i had never had a problem connecting before when i was using my old sky sagemcom router. I must admit i though port forwarding was only really for people that were hosting servers not people trying to connect to them so to speak. I just fired up my xbox and played gears of war 2 online with no problems at all just to rule out there being a problem with the router.

Hopefully it will sort itself out then i hope as i dont want to have to reboot the router everytime i cant connect to a server. I can log in to my online account fine and get to the server list page but get the message of a minute or two to check internet connection settings
