Hey all,
I'm starting to finish university now so looking to buy a desktop as I'll no longer be traveling so much. It's been a while so I wondered if I could get some thoughts on the build I've put together. I have windows 8.1 through my university and have a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I've also been offered a XFX r9 290 for £140. It's about 6 months old and I trust the seller that it's in good condition and not heavily used/used for mining.
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail£269.99 Already Purchased £170
1 x Gigabyte Z97M-D3H Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £79.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (SHFS37A/240G) £79.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01) £65.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £59.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler £24.97
1 x Zalman T1 Plus Mini-Tower USB 3.0 - Black £19.99
Total : £514.41 + Graphics Card (£654)
I've already purchased the processor as I got a very good deal on a brand new one. I was going to get the i5-4690K but as it was the same price for the i7 I couldn't resist!
Any suggestions/changes?
Am I missing any parts?
Is the PSU powerful enough?
Will I be able to OC the processor (aiming for 4.2/3 GHz, if the chip can handle it) with the EVO 212 cooler?
Will these all fit in the case I've chosen?
Sorry for all the questions. I've spent about two weeks thinking things through so hopefully it's not too terrible!
Unfortunately £650 is about my limit, I could push to £700 if needed though (Selling laptop for £600)
Thanks for your help!
