Could you tell me if this spec would work ?

It works...but for that money, tbh, it is rather poor.

Someone teach these people how to take a picture of their shopping basket, crop it and post it here >.<

I've gotta agree, you really aren't getting a lot of computer for your cash there.

OCZ Fatal1ty 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
700W is overkill for that system. You're lookinng at 600W output max.

Not that you really need to knock a tenner off.

For that money I'd be wanting an i7, or at least one of the 45nm C2Quads. A Q6600 in a £1,100 build?

After taking the snapshot of your basket using the printscreen and cropped and saved, go to imageshack or photobucket - you may need to create a account, upload the the image and use the supplied code to past into your post.

Get rid of the OCZ PSU, take the corsair 520W, will be a lot better than Fatal1ty rubbish.

And agreed with the others, Q6600 and spending £1111, something's gone wrong

give me 10mins...spec you up a top notch C2Q and a entry level i7 rig :P
EDIT: Actually...for a C2Q setup I would go water cooling...don't know enough about it so just set you up an i7 rig :)

£1200 budget? :)

I see onetime is doing you a build and youve said £1200, but if you stretched a bit Ive just done this build for someone else, and it'd be a hell of a lot better than your original

And a 4870 X2 is slight overkill on a 20 inch lol.

Well he did put 4850 X2..... but probably still a bit over the top for 1680x1050 res, you could def go with a single GPU card

I will be suprised if you get a nice i7 rig for that money considering all the peripherals you have specced to begin with.....

I shall be interested to see what is suggested

Just refreshed to see if he had replied...
That build is spot on what I would go for tbh, no point in me posting what I had now...got beat to it :p
Case is personal taste (Lian Li or Silverstone for me).

Obviously it being £1468 makes a difference...

I've just been trying to, but it's actually quite hard.

£55 off the case (CM-690)
£30 off the sound
£20 off the keyboard+mouse
£20 off the fans (the CM-690 has plenty, unlike the antec)
£10 off the PSU by dropping to a 600W
---
£135

+
£160 for the Q6600
£45 for the RAM
£105 for the MOBO

I make that £445
Drop the 4850x2 to a 4870 (How mental are you about your gaming? There's not a huge amount of difference at 1680x1050) If you're willing to drop the settings a touch, or the resolution to 1440x900 (it's only a 20" after all) you can save about £60 more off the GPU

That's £505 for a core i7, DDR3 triple channel kit and an x58 Mobo.

It's do-able, but only if you're prepared to drop the rest of the specs a touch.

The big difference to me is that while a 4850x2 and Q6600 will fly through all apps and games now, it'll cost you £300+ to upgrade to i7 (I'm going with about a 1/3 price drop)

Conversely, the i7 + 4870 will handle everything now, with possible slightly lower gaming settings (and I do mean fairly slight) and to upgrade, it's just another 4870 at a maximum of £120 (same 1/3 price drop).

You have to compomise a little, but you can always get a better mouse, sound later. The CM case will handle the temperatures better than the Antec (which is more of an entertainment case than gaming to me).

It's up to you obviously, but I think you'd be getting a lot more bang for your buck. You don't get the same quality accessories, but the actual system will be a lot more worthwhile.

Edit: Slow typing+counting here, but at least my theory agrees with those above me. I've hit pretty much the original £110 budget though. £1200 would allow you to get your 5.1 speakers and keyboard+mouse, and even back up to the 4850x2)
