Can someone explain a db question?

I'm getting a couple of fan's tomorrow. each of them are rated at about 21db, the silly question is, since I have two is that 42db or not? :confused:

I feel so ashamed but relieved all at the same time.

nope, db is an exponential scale.

I think it works out just a little over 21db.

+1 if u had 6 fans @ 21db each it wouldnt sound like a plane taking off
