Can someone explain Ip proflile please?

I noticed my connection was very slow over a few days so i reported it to Orange.

I did 10 speed tests at different times of the day.

Average D/L speed is 125kbs Upload is 365kbs

My connection down speed is at a possible 4200kbs. But my Ip profile is set to 135kbs

So Bt chap came out today knowing about the Ip profile problem. He disconnected one wire in the master socket and he said this has been causing problems. And off he went.

The problem still is there.

Who/how is the Ip Profile setting fixed?

The only thing that has happened. My mum plugged a phone into the master socket with no ADSL filter, the problems seems to have started when she done this. This phone has been taken out and is not used.

Any help input would be great.
 
The IP profile's set with BT Wholesale, and your phone probably made your modem connect at a low enough speed to drop your IP profile that low. You need to wait for it to go back up (provided you stay connected at a high enough speed for that to happen), or your ISP can have it reset.

should it just do it by itself or should i be chasing Orange. I hate ringing Orange, not because the call center is in India. Just because every time i call they are reading from a script and its getting annoying ;(

It normally takes up to 72 hours to recalculate. It's quite a bit of hassle getting your ISP to call BTW to get it reset manually, especially if you're speaking to someone who doesn't have a clue what they're on about, so best to just monitor it and see what happens.
