Presumably a result of pre 12 guarantee deliveries that the system has calculated wouldn't be achievable if the van tried to make all the local anytime deliveries too. You're probably on the return leg back to the depot or something.

Whilst you may be just one delivery, all the extra stops from everyone else who was 'just round the corner' would soon add up, especially if there are some pre 12s on the extremes of his delivery area that are already tight just due to the distance.

You can thank software for this weirdness. I worked as a delivery driver covering the Borders of Scotland where you could travel 20/30 miles between drops. After each days run I would be handed a pile of delivery sheets and I would sort them out in order of delivery as I knew my area inside out, could even beat the sat navs that the young uns used, if I was going to somewhere I did not know then the AA map was sufficient.
Anyhoo we were taken over and the new regime bought in clever computer programs to set out my run and it was rubbish and lasted about 6 weeks before we went back to the old system.

Unfortunately courier parcel delivery drivers are track so cannot deviate from route and also it is frowned on if you get to a drop early, I have spotted them sat outside for a couple of minutes waiting for my time slot to kick in.

Progress?

You paid for an all day delivery - you will get a delivery - what is the issue?

If you wanted it in the morning, you should pay for that service.

Chill Winston, I'm not complaining - I just think it's a bit funny how extreme these route plans can end up being.

Why so hostile? He's only highlighting that the driver has gone past his house. Sure, now it makes sense that he's doing pre-12 deliveries (we've all made the assumption) but it's still OK to highlight it.

At least you're going to get it today! I had a nightmare with Yodel from a competitor recently. I was only about delivery number 35 of the 70 he had to do. My original time was between 3 and 5pm, then it slipped to 7 to 9pm and he was still only on drop number 20 at 8pm. Needless to say my next day delivery wasn't next day. They then lost the parcel in the warehouse so I ordered another with next day delivery and the useless driver did the same.

Based on where I am in Newcastle I'm always in the back end of delivery routes. It's really consistent across couriers

Don't get me started. This is a replacement I'm buying from OCUK, the original Item I bought from a competitor was trashed by Yodel last week.

I really rate DPD - even if I have to wait 7hrs :)
