Can someone explain this to me?

Hi guys,

I've recently fitted a pair of 40GB Kingston SSD's into my rig in RAID-0 to replace my aging Raptors, I had originally cloned my OS from the Raptors to the SSD's, but I was having problems with the SSD's performance, so I've just done a clean install from the Win7 DVD.

What my question is, I use a mechanical drive for most of my games, and I was always under the impression that if you reinstall your OS from scratch, the games you had installed on the seperate drive would no longer work on the new OS install..

But I just tried to fire up COD MW2 from the 2nd drive, and it worked just fine..

I've been using a seperate drive for my games for several years now, but as I've said, everytime I've done a clean install, I always wiped the drive with my games on it at the same time, because I thought they wouldn't work after reinstalling..

Have I been a complete noob all these years, unecessarily wiping my games drive when there wasn't any need to???
 
Depends entirely on the game, some will work as they put all the required files into the folder location specfified but others won't as they blat some files into you Windows and maybe even the Program Files folder.

I've always installed games into a separate drive and some work, others need a reinstall.
 
The majority of them don't work, just COD MW2..

I'm not a happy bunny.. I just finished installing all of my drivers and apps, firefox plugins etc etc, and then I entered the BIOS to load my o/c profile, however, I still had my bootable USB flash drive in my PC, so when I exited the BIOS, somehow it booted to the USB drive, so I restarted, but when it got to the RAID BIOS my array was broken, and the drives were showing as "Non RAID Drives"!!! :mad: :mad:

So, I've just had to erase them again and rebuild the array, and I'm in the process of reinstalling Win7 again...

Really P*****Off about this... :mad: :(:mad::(
