Can someone explain to me a media home network?

Couple of questions regarding building a home media network.

So you have a central PC with lots of space to put music and films on.

How do you get Blu Rays onto it?

Do you need a PC in every room linked to either a TV or monitor for film playback?

What about music?

I'm thinking of this because I use my front room PC for gaming/internet and some films through the TV and music through my stereo. However, I'd quite like to have a trimmed down gaming PC and a seperate media player with the ability to watch media from the bedrooms.

So I've discovered that to do this I'll have a PC somewhere with lots of storage space to hold all our DVDs, Blurays and Music/pics.

I can use a PS3 in one bedroom to stream to - can I stream the blurays to the PS3 and still get the same quality picture?

I then have a PC in the living room which handles gaming duties and streams all the media to the TV.

This is OK yes?
