Can someone explain to me why people are so thick?

On a popular auction site people are buying stuff (for example the Nexus 4) for more than it is sold directly new from Google.

I see this over and over again.

What goes through their heads when they buy stuff? Do they not understand that spending less leaves you with more money?

Please help.
 
Maybe they don't care they are paying more when they are going to charge back on the credit card/using stolen card details/claim it never arrived and push for a refund/insert other ebay scam here. Its probably easier to scam an independent seller through ebay than a multinational like Google directly, so paying over the odds to win the auction is immaterial to them. Just a thought, I could be completely wrong.

the people buying them are likely using fraudulent means and don't care about the price as they won't be paying with their own monies anyway

at least if someone tried to pay me more than what something is worth that's what I would assume.

most stuff on ebay sells for RRP anyway
 
Because winning a on-line auction is more important than the price.

Just think what they said to there friends "i won a auction last night and outbid 34 people to win it"
 
Most non computer people don't realise simple things . They don't know or understand that say an s3 mini is no where near as powerful as an s3 (or s2). They don't even know what the screen resolution is let alone what's good or bad.

the worst part is that they don't even know that they don't know and most don't want to know.
