Really confused about this i dont understand how it works?

did the calorie calculator it gives me:

Calories burned per day: 3227

:S am i suppose to eat that much calories a day to lose weight?

thnx

No, you need to eat 500 calories less than that.

If your body does burn 3227 calories to continue to mantain your BMI, then eating less means it will find the other calories in body fat and bur nthat instead.

Assuming of course that that figure is accurate, many factors can change that. You can eat less, or you can excercise more. Excercise more is better, as it increases metabolism, and can give you are larger loss than what is stated.

so if the calorie counter gives me that 3227 figure or any figure.. i should eat about 500 calories less then that in order to lose wieght?

thanks

That calculator gives the number of calories that your body uses every day.

If you eat 3227 calories a day, your body will get all of the calories it needs from your food.

If you eat more than 3227, your body will use what it needs and store the rest (fat).

If you eat less than 3227, your body will still use 3227 calories, but it will have to start using up your fat reserves because it isnt getting all the calories from its food. So you will lose weight.

Dont try and reduce your calorie intake by too much. Aiming to eat 500 less calories per day is a good figure to lose weight.

what happens if i reduce the calories more then 500??

You need to eat to go to the gym and run/lift weights, so you dont want to lower your calories too much as you'll have no energy to go to the gym so what would be the point in that. You need to eat a deficit but at the same time eat enough so that you have the energy to workout.

Plus if you lower your calories too much after a while you'll hit a brick wall and your weight will stop going down.

Calorie deficit is a measure of the calories you consume less than your daily requirement to maintain your weight.

So if your daily requirement is 3227 and you consume 2727, you have a calorie deficit of 500.

There's 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. So if you consume, on average, 500 calories a day less than you require, you'll lose 1lb of fat a week. 1000 calories on average will yield a weightloss of 2lbs a week. Generally, it's recommended that 1000kcals is the maximum deficit you have.

How did you achieve the figure of 3227?

Ant
