Can someone give advise on these cases?

Hi

I'm shopping for a decent sized (but not huge) multi purpose case.

I play video games at the moment, but don't over clock. I plan to quit and use the PC mainly for recording a podcast, music, and data storage (so I'll need a few drive bays, at least 3-4)

I've discovered the Ethnoo Pro but it's a bit confusing what the differences are between them. I've had a look, the cheaper one seems to have less storage space? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also one seems to have a window, one doesn't. Are they the same other than that?

NO COMPETITORS!

I was looking at the R4, but it seems too big for my needs. I do sometimes move around.

Thanks all

  1. don't link to competitors its very naughty and against forum rules..
  2. the same cases are on OCUK and the drive capacitys are the same, plus don't forget you could probably put adapters in the 5.25 bay too
External 5.25” 3
- Internal 3.5” 6 (2x 3HDD cages)
- Internal 2.5” 7 (1x SSD bracket)

you don't have to go for cases that big , these smaller phanteks cases have 2x 3.5 bays by default, but you can add additional caddies to add 6x 3.5 in total, plus theres still a couple of 2.5 slots as well. both the below cases are available in various types, glass, acrylic, non-window etc..

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £161.09
(includes shipping: £18.12)

Hi thanks sorry I didn't know, new here.

I have looked at these cases and the issue is really mounting costs.

I'm put off by the plastic HDD trays as well as:

A: having to pay for more
B: the cases are not silence orientated (maybe the P400S is? IDK) Silence is not imperative to me, but I am likely to do some recording in future, and care more about it than airflow probably, because I'm only a casual gamer, I don't feel like my PC is going to need excessive cooling.
C: Paying for new / quieter fans. I think fractal fans will be quiet out of the box. Not sure if that's the case with Phanteks and seem to recall on the Pro M there's just one fan out of the box.

That means buying two new fans potentially, as well as at least one, maybe two drive cages. This runs into half the price of a new case in total, as well as with them being newer, there's no second hand option.

I'm not keen on the size of the R4/R5 either, really, but I forgot to mention most importantly, I'm pretty set on making a lot of data DVDs - both for back ups and personal reasons, one being sharing information, talks, lectures etc that I find online with people who are not so tech savvy in my community - and also preserving them in an era of internet censorship. It's nothing untoward or illegal in fact, but you know - times are changing - this is why optical has become quite important to me as a resource.

so yes the missing factor in my post was I was looking for 2x optical bays, and keeping down costs.

I will often hunt for 2nd hand options on Amazon as a few dinks don't bother me. There's currently a white R4 for about £54, which seems like quite a steal, just limits me to upgrading to a white monitor, but I quite like the idea of going to white for a change.
