.. rule of thumb answer on the following please.

I just had a quick look at Nvidia 8800 GT, GTS, GTX and Ultra cards on the OC shop.

Very roughly GT costs about £150-£200, GTS around £200, GTX around £300 and Ultra is around £400

So my question is for each of those £100 steps what actual benefit would I see in a high spec game at a given resolution.

Thanks ahead of your answers :)

Edit: and supplemental question what size monitor would each happily drive while playing a high spec game maxed out such as crysis.

Higher the Resolution (depending on the game) the more Graphics memory is required for high texture sizes. 1680/1920 about 512mb, 2560 about 768+.

However the GT is probably the best product on the market at the moment, coming up close sometimes ahead/little behind on the GTX.

8800GT can handle Crysis at 1680x1050 (20/22") at Most high some medium and some very high at a playable frame rate, however you may see a better result with the 512mb GTS, but the GT is still the best buy if you can get it for £170.
