My hard drive played up the other day and its got me into the mood for a new computer and am thinking about building one based on the following spec.

i7-6700k
ASUS MAXIMUS 8 HERO
16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz
6GB GEFORCE GTX 980 Ti
Intel 400gb 750
850w PSU
H100i GTX
Case
2tb Black Drive

Still not made my mind up on which case or graphic card manufacturer.

Want fast boot times hence the 750 and response times other than that the computer will be used a bit for gaming and watching movies

I'd skip on the WD Black Drive. Unless someone can positively say they are quiet. From what I hear, they are not.

Otherwise, meh :) Looks like budget is no issue, so whatever you want. For GPU, maybe a G1, Strix. Quite happy with my EVGA, I don't think you'll struggle finding a good 980ti.

Case, maybe an Enthoo Pro, or a Corsair (they make nice case).

PSU, EVGA P2 850W are OK. The GPU connectors are weird (8 + 6 pins combos). Cable length is fine. 1000W maybe. Seasonic Platinum would be my choice.

The Black drives are not quiet I guess its a trade off for the speed however I tend too use headphones when using the computer so it should not be a problem. For the PSU it would probably be a Corsair RM as I have used them before and actually have one in this computer and have always found them too work well.

Not too worried about the make of the 980ti too be honest I have no intention of overclocking as the card will more than provide the frame rate I require and benchmarking is something I have no real interest in.

Cases are always the big issue I find when building a computer it always seems too come down too finding one that I like and then find that they are not so practical or finding one that is practical but does not visually appeal too me. I think I a 780T will be the one I go for and just hide it away somewhere lol

That's up to you. I know it would bother me :)

All right. :) Review here if you want.

Stick with a big brand, like Gigabyte (G1), Asus, EVGA. Some cards are overclock from factory. Gives them a bit of a boost. In that case, a G1 or Strix. Quiet, powerful, plug and play, and well specced.

Nice case :)

The Corsair RM is somewhat overpriced, considering you can get the superior RMx for £11 less.

The H440 did get my attention along with some of the glass cases but I wanted something either bigger or cooler in the case of the glass ones.

The black drives would have too be damned loud in order for me too hear them over my head phones when I actually use the PC and from what I can tell from youtube videos they are not that bad I guess it would be good to hear from someone who uses them here
