Can Someone Help Me. Games/Software wont install.

Hi recently i have been having trouble with installing games/software.

It started off with witcher 2, when i put the disc in and extract the file, it opens the Install Shield, but the install shield doesnt do anything. It doesnt hang or crash it is just staying still with no error reporting.

So i gave up and just left installing witcher 2.

When i go to install steam games, i have to start the installation twice for it to work, the first time it hangs on the direct x Installation.

Now im trying to install free 2 play league of legends, and it has same problem with witcher 2. Freezes on install shield.

Ideally i want to reinstal Windows install shield i have windows 7 64bit but i cant seem to find file.

This is the screenshot of what it looks like. when the installshield doesnt do anything.

.net and everything installed/updated? After a little read it could be something in your TEMP directory thats causing the hang ups, apparently some poorly written programs don't clean up from temp correctly after install and can effect other installs. So try emptying your temp folder>reboot and try install again. Its usually C:\Temp or C:\windows\Temp.
 
Start -> right click my computer -> manage

Expand event viewer -> expand windows logs -> click application logs

Order by date and time.

You can find the cause of pretty much any windows problem with this method. Yet so few people know about it :P

Anyway looks like you have a broken windows installer to me, that seems to be the common issue.

I have tried the two items the above users mentioned, it hasnt seemed to of fixed it...
Can you show me where i can reinstall for windows 7 windows installer please.

Okay ive just turned UAC off and typed in run command. msiexec /regserver

all of a sudden league of legends popped up. im still not happy though i think i should reinstall the windows installer.

i have tried those and theres not even a registry in that name there.

Witcher 2 still wont install.

I have the latest net framework...
isnt there just a re-installation process for this on windows 7?
 
You can repair windows with the setup disc.

Are you on win 7 64? if so did you check the last comment on the first link, it says the registry key is in a different place.

Possible solution: I have seen this posted and tried on 4 Win7 64 bit pc's. They all had the value which I changed and all now are able to install/unintall which they could not earlier. Hope it helps!

HERE IS THE FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME : Start, then Run, then type regedit Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\MSIserver\WOW64 Right click on WOW64, then select Modify Set Value Data to 0 (mine was set at 1) and Base should be Hexadecimal Close everything, reboot, and see if you can uninstall or reinstall...............it worked for me. Don't bother with Office XP Pro and Windows 7..............it screws up everything.
