can someone help me pick some better memory please?

here is my full system

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
Nvidia GTX280
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Corsair HX 620W Psu

im sure its not a driver issue because i have recently changed from vista 64 to windows 7 64 ;)

well the problem was there in vista too but i just thought maybe it was just with the one game (oblivion) and i just didnt bother playing it, i have been noticing it in a lot more games tho and its really annoying

i know how you feel, i always get it in crysis and UT3,

but this one has really stumped me....

the weird thing is that crysis is one of the few games that i dont have problems with :p but older games that my friends can run perfectly are giving me trouble
the witcher ,age of empires 3 & pure to name a few ;) i even have trouble running the demo of the new sherlock holmes vs jack the ripper game because of the amount of stuttering

yep i always made sure they were up to date ;) it wasnt just old games tho, farcry 2 also had a lot of stuttering when i dont think it should have

Could it be the audigy? Thats an old card, creative drivers are hardly the most trust-worthy. If its really bugging you try pulling it out and using onboard for a while :S. Just another idea.

Hawker

oops :p i forgot to remove that from the list, i took the audigy out a few weeks ago when i was trying to isolate the problem and i didnt bother to put it back in so its not that ;)

i keep a txt document of my specs for if i ever need to post them and it was a copy/paste job :o

stick to current ram unless it's holding back your cpu overclock
the 8600 has 10x multi so 10x 400mhz = 4ghz cpu I fail to see any need to upgrade the ram at all
