Can someone help work this out

I'm trying to work something out for my step dad. There are 10 teams and each team needs to play each other once. But I can't work out a table for who plays who.

Anyone know how to do it? The first match would be something like.

1 plays 2
3 plays 4
5 plays 6
7 plays 8
9 plays 10

Then they need to play all the others without playing each other again.

2 plays: 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
3 plays: 4,5,6,7,8,9,10
4 plays: 5,6,7,8,9,10
... etc

That doesn't work. There need to be 5 games each time.

Match 2

2-3

I just can't get it all to work out. Is it even possible? :confused:

I think you can do it by counting from opposite ends?

Match 1

1-10
2-9
3-8
4-7
5-6

Then Match 2:

1-9
2-8
3-7
4-6
5-10

Match 3:

1-8
2-7
3-6
4-5
9-10

Match 4

1-7
2-6
3-5
4-10
5-9

Red = mAtch number
Black = Team number

Except it wont work if you ignore half the numbers this is bugging me now
