ok, im after 2x 2gb sticks of ram. and i want to overclock my chip.
Now currently i have a 6300 which runs at 7x266. my current ram is 2x1gb running at 800mhz. so this means that i am not running 1:1. but instead cpu 1:1.5 ram correct?
so, if i just get some 2x2gb sticks which dont overclock well, with this current chip, and running a 1:1 divider, i can still hit 2.8gb. correct?
so when i order my Q6600 which runs native at 9x266. i can still overclock the chip to 3.6 (9x400) without overclocking the ram at all. now obviously it would be nice to OC the ram too but 3.6 is still going to be plenty and i may not even be able to get a q6600 that high.
have i got my math right or am i being silly?
i ask really because i have been looking at some mushkin HP2-6400 from the states that is supposed to be the only 2gb sticks that can OC well, but im only really interested in getting some more bang on the CPU. so any 2gb stick that runs at 800 will be fine. right?? if i get some and it is able to go slightly over (looking at black dragon) then its a bit of a bonus.
