Can someone lend me hand regarding converting dvd files?

hi people i have a dvd which i have made and im looking to try and convert the files to avi format so i can edit them all the files on the dvd are VTS 01 VTS 02 etc is there anyway of converting these file types? if anyone could in lighten me id be very greatfull

Avidemux can edit and convert them.

Why dont you use a program most people use to copy DVD's ?? ShrinkDVD ,No1DVD , there are loads of rippers that will do the job , many are free .Instead of copying to another DVD just save the files in another format .ie . avi or mpeg onto the hard drive.There are some programs that will let you edit directly from the vobs , Womble is one and the one I use is VideoRe-Do .This will open the files without converting them to edit or save as an avi .

ahhhhh this is so annoying, *** im trying to do is cut a section out of a dvd thenconvert a file to avi or mpg, im using video redo to cut the section i need, when i save it i can only save it as an mpg avi is not there, i then use virtual dub mod to convert it to avi, once thats done i test the avi file only 2 find its all out of sync, *** am i doin wrong its drivin me nuts!

Like I said, use avidemux.

i tried mate but when i tried to open the vob files it kept coming up access denied?

You need to be using an admin account.

I use XP and have had no problems whatsoever using Video-Re-do .Will clip any part of the vob file and save . Are you using a legit or trial version ?
