Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a student at Leeds Metropolitan University studying for a BSc (Hons) degree in Computing, currently in my second year. As part of my Sandwich course I am required to undertake a 1 year full time work placement. I am particularly interested in web design and am enquiring as to whether you have any positions available.
As you can see from my attached CV I have a broad range of skills in many areas within computing. Prior to attending University I successfully completed a HNC in computing and feel that this has already given me a good foothold in computing as from this I gained good all round skills, in particular programming and web design . In my first year of University I gained excellent marks and I think this shows the level of commitment and hard work that I have put forward to my studies. I have thoroughly enjoyed every module on my course but in particular I have taken a real interest in the Internet Information Systems and Personal Web Development modules.
In these modules we have been using a broad array of tools and techniques, we are using XHTML, PHP, CSS, SQL, Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, Photoshop and Apache. I enjoy using these and feel competent using them and would like to develop my knowledge further. Also I have developed my knowledge and understanding of this of my own accord in my spare time and I feel that the opportunity to develop this with a work placement would be an excellent chance to take this further.
During my time at University I have been consistently hard working and enthusiastic, throughout the course we have worked extensively in teams working on large projects to deadlines and goals. This has developed my ability to communicate well and to work in a team with others. I think with these skills that I would be a great addition to your team.
