Hi guys, this is doing my head in. Here's the issue.

I have my I7 3770K able to pull 4.6GHz with ease when setting Vcore manually to 1.2v. Now the only problem with that is, my CPU does not throttle back to 1.6GHz and drop volts at the same time when its idling. I have all the power saving options enabled in Bios to throttle but its not happening for me. I'm not using Intel Turbo, I've just manually set multi to 46 and set vcore to 1.2v manually. How the hell do I set my Bios up so it when my CPU is idle it drops to 1.6GHz and also drops volts to default and when I stress it the chip gets to 4.6GHz with using the 1.2v I set?

I'm using Gigabyte Z77 UEFI Bios. This is what my Voltage page looks like as default, this is not actually my bios, just a pic off the net. Basically I have Vcore set to 1.2v and the others at Auto.

This is driving me nuts.

I've tried that Wazza but i cant get it to boot when setting vcore to normal. I'm using Turbo llc

I think im going to take some pictures of my bios on the camera and show it properly. I know my chip does 4.6GHz at 1.2v I just need to figure out how to get this without manually setting the vcore at that. I dont want my CPU running at 4.6GHz @ 1.2v 24/7

just tried that, just going to bloody leave it at 46 multi and vcore 1.2V 24/7 lol...Ive just spent the last 15minutes trying to not have it freeze in bios because not enough volts, quickly load defaults and managed to get in and set it to where it was. Couldnt be arsed to pull both my GPU's out because my reset bios switch is right below them lol.

I'll try again tomorrow, just want to enjoy some games tonight.

ok guys..here we go, something is just not playing ball here.

I've just set the chip back to stock, 35 multi with turbo disabled. Ive set vcore to normal to find default voltage, opened up cpuz as you can see when chip is idle, its not throttling down to 1.6GHz, it seems to stay at 3.5GHz. Now the weird thing is, it does flash to 1.6GHz for not even half a second, then it just goes back to 3.5GHz.

take a look

Got it and its now throttling down to 1.6GHz..back at 4.6GHz now Wazza, but when stresssing those settings are giving me 1.28v which I dont need nowhere near that because I know this chip is prime stable at 4.6GHz @ with only 1.2v. So now it's just a case of dropping the dvid bit by bit till i get back down to 1.2v. All good now, im very pleased.

Thank you all very much for being patient and trying to help. :)
