Hiya this is my first overclocking project,
I have an asus m3a motherboard, 3gb corsair memmory an amd 5000+ BE cpu 500gb hdd and a coolermaster hsf.
For the past 3 days i have had a stable overclock from 2.6ghz to 3.0ghz (it survived 3 hours of prime95 without errors) to achieve this i increased the multiplier to 15 and upped the vcore from 1.3 to 1.5. i used amd overdrive to do a benchmark and it scored 5337 (average of 3 tests) i done all overclocking via the bios.
last night disaster struck and windows completly crashed about 10 secs after loading to desktop (vista 64 home premium) i could not do anything even after leaving it alone for about 2 hours to see if it would recover itself but with no joy so i had to do a complete reinstall of windows including deleting the origional partician (which worked!) after reinstalling all my oc apllications i tried another stress test on prime95v (passed!) the funny thing is my vcore had been reset to 1.35 and i could not pass even 10 mins on prime with my cpu @3.0 without raising that vcore to 1.5 before?? also my benchmark has dropped to 5086 i have noticed the lower score is comming from the memmory so could this be because i have increased the cpu but not the memmory? does the memmory frequency become unbalanced with that of the cpu? i want to move to an i7 cpu soon this was really a test setup to see if i could overclock without causing any damage to hardware!
as always any help or constructive critisism welcome
Thanks.
