Can someone reccommend a sleeping bag?

How often/long would you be using it?

I bought mine from Argos I think. Its a Jeep one. £35 or thereabouts. Perfect for 3 or 4 nights in one week in a year. Was great.

Don't think I'd be taking it up Everest with me.

Well, what conditions will you be using it in? Does it need to be compact/lightweight for backpacking, etc, etc :)

I'm really wondering about you now cbs. Scuba, torches, night vision, sleeping bags.

Do you come with eagle eyes?

£300!!!

I wouldn't even contemplate that and I'm the idiot who likes to sleep anywhere I can.

Best bet is to go down to a local factory outlet village. They will ususally have an outdoors type store. You can get some good bargins on bags that will cope at very low temperatures.

At the moment I would like a robust sleeping bag for summer in the woods. I can think about other conditions later.

For the summer. I say argos. My current bag is so hot in the summer it's unbelieveable.

whats a four season one?
Sleeping bags are rated for the number of seasons they're recommended for.

I got myself a ~3 season Vango Nitestar. Certainly good quality, but I found it a little hot last summer and ended up sleeping on top. Mind you, I throw bedcovers off even in the middle of winter, so I'm probably not such a good test. :)

I was looking at Vango sleeping bags recently, seem rather good and not too expensive either.

I bought a Vaude Travel Light 225 a couple of years ago for a mere £30 half price. I can't remember whether its 2 or 3 season, but camping in less than average summertime conditions it kept me (too) warm and cosy.

£300 is madness if you're not going to use it every other day or more!!!

Season ratings refer to the suitability of use in different conditions.

4 seasons = autumn/winter/spring/summer

But if you use a 4 season bag in the summer you'd probably die from heat exhaustion. :p
