Can someone recommend me a GPU to go with this please.

Hi All,

I am trying to find a suitable graphics card for a family member, they are looking to replace a GTX 560 which is dead.
Its used mostly for general office work and playing games like The Sims 4, Fifa 20, Tomb Raider and possibly GTA.

I know there is going to be a CPU bottleneck but want to keep this upgrade as cheap as possible, have around £200/250 to spend.

What would you recommend?

Current spec is

Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3
i5 2500K with stock cooler
8GB of ddr3 1333mhz
PSU has been upgraded to Be Quiet Power 9 600W as the old PSU was dead.
240gb SSD
1TB HDD

It would deal with those games really well at 1080p with high settings.

Was looking at this card but the CPU would need upgrading to take full advantage i think? Maybe I'm wrong

You've had a 2500K all this time and haven't overclocked it?

Jeez...

Get a new cooler and clock that puppy as well, so it can better match your new GPU.

I had my 2500K at 4.7GHz.

The cpu may hold the card back some what but that still a good choice.

Cheaper option is the 5500xt or the 1650 which can be had oc or super variants but are Las powerful then 1660super.

I'm not sure how low you'd need to go in order not to bottleneck the card. I guess an RX570 would also do the job and be considerably cheaper but 4GB of vRAM is a bit low these days. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/amd/radeon-rx-570

Definitely thinking of getting the 1660 super though, thanks for the recommendations.

Maybe a CPU upgrade in the future.

Sometimes you mite need to update the bios on the motherboard to take a new gpu.

Motherboard is on F4, haven't looked in to this at the moment to be fair.

Would only update the bios if the gpu is not recognised. Hopefully you won't have too, let's us know which gpu you get.

That depends upon the game. But he'll get a huge boost and can always upgrade the rest of the system later.
