hey guys,

im looking to watercool my CPU.
atm i have a CM storm trooper so i can only have a 240mm rad (will be at the bottom)
i will be adding a 360mm rad and my 7990 to the loop when i upgrade my CPU and motherboard.

im looking for silence and performance more than looks but if it looks good as well then thats a bonus :D

i already have two SP120 quiet edition fans so i will be using those, but want to run them as slow as possible.

i have 250 MAX for the loop but if i can save some that will be great as it will go towards my other upgrades

i was considering the EK 240mm kit but not sure if i can get better parts for the money, so what can you guys spec me?

just over budget but is this ok?

Nice.
That rad is great, but be aware that it's fpi is fairly dense, so you may not get away with running fans as slow as you might like.
If you have room for push/pull on there, it could help you achieve that.

Oh, grab some X1 fluid instead and save yourself the bother of kill coils/biocide etc :)

thanks for the info, shall i look at another rad?

i will also be getting a 750D when i add a 360 and my 7990, so i will get the same rad in 360mm

i was hoping to run one set of fans on each rad for silence (less fans = less noise :D)

Black Ice SR1, EK XTX or Alphacool UT60/XT45 perhaps?

They're all between 9 and 11fpi, whereas the GT Extreme is 20fpi.
The GT extreme is the best performer on paper, but only if you up the fan speed a bit.

silence is what im more concerned about so SR1 it is

so is everything above ok? but with a SR1 rad and X1 fluid?
any changes that could be dont to same money etc?

Not really. Could bugger about with pump tops and res, but you've gone for a nice convenient solution so stick with that.
Could maybe save £6 quid for now on tubing as i doubt you'll need more than meter for a cpu/single rad setup if I'm being picky :p

Shouldn't need more than litre of fluid either, but it's probably better to be on the safe side :)

there will be components added so having the extra fluid and tubing wont hurt :)

awsome, thanks bud roll on payday! :D

While many get on with it just fine, there are numerous reports of reliability issues and vibration with the 750 res/pump.

Since the OP picked a D5/res combo, I assumed that that was the kind of look he was going for and I wouldn't try to dissuade someone from a D5 in favour of a lesser product :)

It is very good value for money though.

Fair enough, I'm looking into that very kit myself, I've seen people swapping out the res/pump combo or putting foam around it to insulate from vibration. The only problem I see is that it doesnt come with compression fittings aside from the vibration issue.

yup thats correct, its going into my cm storm trooper then into a 750D when i get the case and 360mm rad and the 7990 waterblock :)

(not a fan of bay res's anyway)
