I would like some spec advice for cheap HTPC rig.
I was thinking Pentium Dual Core (cheapest) for HDTV and 422 sat signals.
Memory 1 G? Obvously fast but not too pricey. Maybe 2G but slower?
Mobo, ATX with Lan to go with current PSU, I assume ATX PSU no good for mini ATX board, must have four+ pci slots for
Sigma MPEG hardware card (netstream 2000tV)
Sat card (have)
Sound card (have)
Freeview card (need) with remote
Need Gfx card with DVI to monitor (TV out not needed) not playing games much
(too old!).
Keep exsting HDD for now (Ide, old) if poss.
Keep DVD RW multi drive.
Will run XP and maybe Linux dual boot.
Would like to overclock cpu if need.
I would love an ATX HTPC case but they are silly money for what you get. There are some cheap sff ones arould but mobo won't have enuff pci slots.
