I'm trying to work out what these hallmarks might mean on a silver thing we've got lying around:

Anyone got any ideas?

A B will likely be a makers mark
* maybe the city mark
S looks like the 1873-4 hallmark a bit

no idea what the top numbers mean , purity ?

there is prob a forum dedicated to identifying them if you google

I suspect they are silver plate hall markings rather than sterling

looks more like the examples of silver plate ?

That number probably means it was the 2029th one produced.

Unlikely. The * is clearly a reference to the Stargate. A = Asgard, B = ?, the $ thing is those little snake things that live in the black dudes stomach. I can't remember the names.

I think you're right, it could be silver plate, not sterling. I'll ask around a few more places.

Pretty sure it's plate as there's no sterling standard mark.

The bottom four marks relate to Henry Atkin/Atkin Brothers silver plate from Sheffield...

ooh good find!

I was looking on that website as well but didn't notice an electroplate section.

at least I was correct about it being plated

find out it's value and let us know op.

The B could be for Ba'al

A = Anubis (Anubis was the most powerful and dangerous Goa'uld in history.)
B = Ba'al (Ba'al was a Goa'uld, and one of the last System Lords.)
* = RA (Ra was the Goa'uld System Lord who personified the Egyptian sun god,)
S = Sokar (Sokar was a powerful Goa'uld System Lord known for his cruel and sadistic nature. ) [could also be S = System lords]

It's clearly a Goa'uld artifact
