From what I remember, you basically go to Hell, or there's a Hell like place on Mars where you battle a very big Cyberdemon, and just use the special soul cube on the thing a couple of times and win.

Not played RoE, so can't tell you about that one.

Then Bertruger (sp) turns into a bat. Doom isn't known for its story line.

I've tried to play Doom 3 after watching the movie (which i quite enjoyed!) again and got to the point where the skull things are chasing you near the core and to be honest i just can't be bothered to go any further, I prefer the film lol

That was the end of the third episode of DOOM 1 wasn't it?. Classic. Remember the mechanical spider brain Boss from episode 1. Top stuff.

How did castle Wolfenstien end...i can't remember?.

You go to hell.
Kill cyber demon.
Rescue team arrives.
you are found, sitting in a corner, completly bonkers.

Cut scene ends with Bertruger having been made part of some kind of hellish bat creature.
It is................. rubbish.

If you mean the original, it was a fight against some random general who launched missiles at you (you killed hitler in the third episode), if you are talking about the sequel, it was a fight against some undead prince who shot ghosts at you, how little things change over the years.

Uh

Knee Deep in the dead - 2 Baron nights
Shores of hell - Cyberdemon
Inferno - Spider mastermind
Thy flesh consumed - Spider mastermind

Doom 2 - Icon of sin

Doom 3 - Cyberdemon

I think I was about half way through hell when I got bored and stopped. I wanted to know what happened to the marine that kept giving you orders and the corporation guy and his hired henchman that you kept coming across. It's like they just forgot to do anything more with them once you hit delta labs.

Sergeant Kelly did seem to disappear off the radar. He kept giving you instructions on what to do but then stopped after you refused to send the communication to Earth to summon reinforces.

Elliot Swann (corporation guy) is found almost dead in the Delta Labs. After giving you his ID card he just waits to be rescued and you hear nothing further from him. His soldier bodyguard is killed somewhere along the line but that's not explained.

To be honest, the game does get a bit monotonous until you get the soul cube from Hell. I think once you get that weapon it takes on a new spark, certainly for me, as I think the cube is an excellent weapon. In fact, all this talking about it makes me want to play it again this weekend.

In Resurrection of Evil, you are a completely different soldier who finds an unusual artifact. The team leader on this mission is Dr. Elizabeth McNeil who is mentioned briefly in Doom 3 in a message that says she is returning to Earth. Anyway, your objective is to return this artifact to her and as you go on your way you discover it has some powers of its own, it can slow down time, give you limited invulnerability and something else. Can't remember much then until you go to fight Dr. Bertruger in his dragon-like form. I think when he croaks it, the artifact implodes and takes him with it.

I don't think there will be another expansion pack to this saga. I wonder if they will do a Quake IV one.

I actually sent the communication, and had Betruger thank me for doing it later on. Don't remember coming across Swann at all though

Dr. Proton is defeated and using Proton's time warp device Duke returns to Earth's present and is presented the key to the city he saved.

Well I think, I could be mistaken
