Can someone tell me if these line stats are good or bad?

Taken from my Speedtouch 546 ADSL2 Ethernet router event log

"DSL linestate up (downstream: 3648 kbit/s, upstream: 256 kbit/s; output
Power Down: 19.0 dBm, Up: 11.5 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 55.0 dB, Up: 31.5 dB; snr Margin Down: 6.5 dB, Up: 7.0 dB)"

Been having TERRIBLE problems with this crappy MaxDSl and was wondering if there is anything obvious in these figures that would suggest why.
 
As far as my limited knowledge goes they're not very good.

The SnR is rather low I used to get awful jitters when mine dropped below 7db and line attenuation looks rather high as well.

Mine (from memory) are 41db Atennuation and 9db SnR which give me a max of about 1880 Kbps on an 8 meg line :(

Hardly that bad if you're synching at 8Mbps...

As for the OP - as ever, try the master socket with no extensions and see if your sync rate (or SNR margin) improve.
Other than that you could try asking your ISP to get interleaving enabled, or just wait. The DLM should eventually kick in and enable it (assuming you haven't opted out) and/or up your target SNR.
 
Tolien, I sync at 8128 and it's been rock solid (admittedly only upgraded for ~36 hours so far) Am I likely to see an increase in speed over the next 10 days or so then?

Or do you think I'll max at ~2Mbps actual speed?
(I don't know what the limiting factors are, although BT reckon I should max at ~4.5Mbps?)

you on your first 3 days since your regrade? its possible the datarate is limited to 2mbp and then after the 3rd day or on it it'll then start increasing the datarate every 75 min, however i ended up getting the speed upgrade within a few hours of the regrade and im with plus.net
 
Yes I am, only regraded Friday. Thanks for that, I'll give it a couple of weeks before I contact BT then.
