Helloooo

I seem to be having connection trouble (Error 80010000a)

Can someone go through the option to set up a new connection
Easy>Wireless>Scan
Then tell me what is there ?

I get the message "The access point was not detected", where I was assuming I should get a list of access points that are nearby and their signal strength ?
I was assuming I should also have got the list of other access points even though I already have one set up (that my Wii has no trouble connecting to)

So if someone could have a look and tell me what they see after the "scan" option, that would be fab.

Cheers

I am at work now so can't check.

A quick google search mentioned that totally turning off the PS3 with the switch solved it for one person but it might be just coincidence that it worked again.

Yeah, it's boradcasting loud and clear and my Wii has no trouble in connecting to it.

The thing that scares me is that I'm getting a message instead of a list of available access points. Even if you discount mine, I know for a fact that there are about 4 others it can normally see. That's the bit that makes me think it is a PS3 problem and not a router one. :(

This isn't very much help but i just tried mine and it works fine, detects my box etc. and sets up fine. I haven't updated to 3.30 yet either so i'm doing that now and then i'll check again so we can determine whether it's to do with the firmware or not ;)

Edit: Still works fine with firmware 3.30, shows the SSID, security type being used and signal strength and then i can carry on to the next page and enter my password etc.

Just checked, I get:

"Scanning. Please wait."

Then a screen with:

"Select the access point to be used."

Then a list of all the wireless networks in range with SSID, Security and Signal Strength, example being: "MyNetwork | WPA2-PSK (AES) | 100%"

I always had an issue with using WPA2, I had to set it to WEP and it worked. Not great for security, but it did work, I remember reading something about the PS3 not being capable of WPA2, not sure if it's true or not. Have you had it connected before?

I have been using WPA2 since the beginning and it works fine.

Only issue I had was that it works better if I manually assign an IP address

Balls :(

Well I'm now convinced that it's my PS3 at fault and not my router as...
1) My Wii works
2) My routers settings haven't changed since the PS3 worked last
3) It seems that other people (Flibby) get a list of access points after choosing scan, whereas I don't.

Sigh..... I guess I'll look into this whole RMA bussiness.
Anyone got a link ? ;)

(also cheers everyone for looking into it)

UPDATE !!

Well I took my PS3 to a friends house just to see if anything new happened, and lo and behold, it scanned correctly and found networks and connected.

So I took it home and it scanned correctly and found 5 networks including my own.
I connected to my own and then tried a connection test which it got half way through and then failed on the "Connect to PSN" bit.

THEN when I treid scanning again, the same old problem occurred :(
It's almost as if the act of connecting to my router is locking the PS3's wireless for some reason !?!?

I'd be inclined to think it's the other way round because the PS3 connected to your mate's router with no problems.

The PS3 seems to be working fine.

I had endless problems with a Netgear N access point & my PS3.

Changed my access point and all was good

Phew.....

I got it working.
I had to take the power cable out the back of my PS3 and turn the router off.
Then when powering the PS3 back up, the scan feature wasn't locked anymore and it could see all the other access points again.

I then turned my router back on and went into the settings (Settings that have worked perfectly for years) and then changed everything value I could see while still making sure it was still internet capable. Even down to the SSID.

Then it just worked.
I care not for which value it was that sorted it out and I'm not going to use a process of emilination to zero in on the problem. I'm just happy it's back :)
