Rig as per sig. Crysis demo felt pretty smooth and am sure I was getting higher fps. Did a reinstall of windows recently then got the full game. Feels pretty laggy so ran the gpu test and results are below. Im sure this is lower than it was on the demo so am wondering if something is up with my system:

Cheers,
Simon

Using my 3800x2 (o/c to 2.6ghz)
my 2900XT 512MB
my 2GB Geil Low Lat

I get around 30FPS on medium settings with a couple of highs, with a resolution of 1680 x 1050

Have you installed the AMD dual core optomiser? And its your processor showing as a ACPI Multiprocessor in the device manager???

if your running vista that doesn;t even need any dual core driver or optimiser installed. only reason why 2 cores won;t be showing up in vista is if you either have a single core cpu or your bios option for multi core is disabled.

I have a X2 3800 and a 8800GTS 512MB. I get 30 FPS with everything on high and when overclocked to 2.5GHz I get 33 FPS, all at 1280x1024 on Vista 64 in 64-bit DX9. I get roughly the same at 1024x768, Crysis is a strange one!

It was already installed and Ive reinstalled it. Even without it Win XP should still recognise both cores.

Yes device mgr shows it as ACPI Multi.

Noted in your sig. ref fact x-fi doesn't work . Symptoms?

This is a problem since I first bought it 3 months ago and Ive tried everything and just gave up as seems to be many problems with this card and NF4 mobo's. Will keep it for when I upgrade my system.

Its deffo not single core as like I say it was working as dual core before and I even have the cpu-z screenie showing it. I did reset BIOS to default options a while back but its still running latest BIOS version and recognises it as correct dual core cpu. I find no option to enable/disable 2nd core in BIOS and never had to change anything in BIOS for it to work before.

I have an X2 3800 running at 2.5Ghz, 2GB ram with a GTS 512 (video card not overclocked).

At 1920 x 1200 with everything on high I get around 25 fps in Crysis 1.1 no AA and no AF. Win XP 32bit.

That is on the same mobo as in your sig too.

have u the latest BIOS for your motherboard, I flashed mates m/b and it recognized the extra speed from the cpu I put in for him.

check the asus web to see if there is a latest bios which may fix the problem for U,

if not then get a windows patch , program update to see if an fix is available

Yes as per my previous reply its running as latest BIOS and this version ran the dual core fine for several months. Its just stopped working.

Only thing I can think to try next is reinstall windows. If that doesnt work then try it in a mates PC.

Hadn't realised you were using vista - did a google ref problems with the gamer card and vista and can now understand your title 'PoS'.

It was Win XP that I had the problems. From all my testing and emails to CL it appears main issue is Nvidia Nforce 4 chipset. After a few threads on here several others had similar issues and as soon as they moved to another chipset e.g. P35 then it worked fine. I hope to upgrade to an Asus P5KE in the next month so fingers crossed.

Hi,

I don't see why that CPU-z screenshot shows you're only using one core.
The absence of the drop-down box shows you only have one processor...

Open task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc in Vista)
Click the performance tab, if there are two graphs, then there's no problem.

X2 3800+ @ 2.8ghz

I play in ultra and it looks much better. Only a few fps slower as its the cpu thats the problem now (mainly in built up action) before on X1800 i got 7fps in ultra 1440x900, that was looking at the floor underwater!

No its not, its the same on mine. I drop to 800x600 and get about .5fps faster than 1440x900. Its just mainly graphics card limited
