can steam do this to a customer?

Apparently they pushed the Oddboxx bundle for the Steam Sale, not giving enough time to finish it. I'm sure they will patch it soon ish.

You bought a bundle, Steam can only refund for a bundle. I don't understand the issue here. If you buy a PS3 bundled with games from a shop, you can't return just the games on their own.

no they have to honor the original sale, he can ask for the refund to be split. steam are taking the mickey, it just depends to what extent you want to go to stop it, and i would say as they well know that not many people would ever go to the lengths required to make them honor it.

but you never know, they may just do the right thing off there own backs

It does seem very odd. The problem he has with oddbox shouldn't have an effect on the other products he bought.

I'm not sure why they're claiming they can't refund him for just one item. This isn't stated anywhere in teh T&C. Unfortunately what Klo said about them not usually accepting ANY refunds is in there, so there's probably not a lot you can do.

If you wish to set a custom resolution in this game, open config.txt found here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\stranger's wrath

Then, add the following lines:

Code:

width=2560
height=1600
fullscreen
resolution=custom

You will need to change the width and height to your preferred resolution.

There has been official word on the steam forums that they are going to patch the two new games in the Oddboxx.

Maybe save yourself some trouble and take a stand another day.

Consumer Focus said digital products are not considered "tangible goods", so while consumers on the high street are protected by the Sale of Goods Act if their purchase is not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose or as described, people buying digital goods online are not protected.

This means that if a downloaded song, movie or piece of software does not play on the buyers' computer or MP3 player, they have no legal right to a refund.

I wonder when they are going to align digital goods rights, with real goods rights(or at least give you some rights, instead of the usual up yours which is intimated in their eualas).

It will happen eventually, someone whom isnt getting paid not to do anything or look the other way, will get into the right position, or someone will get annoyed with it and make a stink. Its just a matter of when.

The point is that in order to proceed with the refund they want to refund EVERYTHING on that single purchase, which includes FEAR & PoP, and since they're no longer on sale he would have to buy them back at the new non-sale prices.

It's a joke, but a good lesson to us steam users to purchase individually in case they try and pull this on us.

yeah but if he wants to get a refund for the game that doesn't work plus keeping Fear and the Prince of Persia games he has to buy them again for more as they ain't on sale anymore and then get refunded the price they were on sale for doesn't seem right to me.

He got a discount by buying them all together as one item. Not a series of discounted items.

Wonder what OCUK would do if you wanted to return one part of one of their system bundles?

Andi.

Can't see it happening, it's going all the way and we are sleep walking into because only a handful of people run into this kind of issue. People seem to think Eula = the Law, but usually it's not the case. When it comes to money, fobbing people off takes precedence over consumer rights. :)

If you buy something from a supermarket, and find one item has a problem you did not notice when purchasing it. They don't ask you to bring ALL of your shopping back do they?

i didnt get the oddbox any cheaper for buying it with the other games :) a lot of you seem to think that i would have had to pay more for the oddworld games if i had bought just those but its not the case

i simply bought multiple bundles from steam at the same time

Eh? So the OP Bought all the items seperatly?

Every shop, be it bogof items thats a problem, buy a tea seat and get tea towels holders free etc, a bungle of components will ask you to return the whole lot for a refund. It even tells you like on the highstreet catalogue store. If you buy 2 items, and one has the condition of being half price when bought with another, means that you need to return all components for a refund or any issues!

Be lucky they offered the OP a refund at all tbh!

They are aligned i don't think you have any rights to return gaames, as they do work, just not on your computer. Although distance selling you get far more rights.

No to use your supermarket analogy, he bought the tea set at half price, at the same time he bought a packet of biscuits which were 25% off on a different offer, a block of cheese which was also discounted under a different offer etc..He's returning the tea set but the supermarket wants him to return everything he bought on that receipt and then rebuy them at current prices.

Yeah, but the supermarket has in its Ts & Cs that it wont refund anything ever, so he can count himself lucky he's getting anything at all!

Just leave it and wait for a patch.

It's obviously not worth the added cost and hassle for you to get the refund but I would still try and pursue this further, most probably in the form of a complaint letter.

I reckon it will get you nowhere but it can't hurt to try anyway.

Edit:
Make a direct complaint to the publisher and/or creator of the game as well explaining your dis-satisfaction with the product and how it fails to meet your expectations. Maybe they might be inclined to help you out.

I've returned games to shops that did not work on my computer at those times. I believe that is part of the law, if not then both me and the shop were mistaken. With computers its a complicated thing, you can never always know beforehand what will work and wont together.

I remember what it was I was, trying to get Outcast to work on a Cyrix(refund for stupidity).

Some shops under tgere own t&cs will refund as far as i kniw there is no law some shops even state no refunds for software/games. It is not there problem if it doesn't work. Only way you are pritected by law is if say the cd is corrupt and doesn't play or has a scratch in it.
