Hi i am going to be using my 2 8800gtx s in sli for my main monitor, however am thinking of future upgrading, so would i be able to put this 3rd card the 295 in and use it to run another 2 monitors? Or would i have problems doing this due to there being problems doing multi monitoring on sli as effectively this card is an sli card. Thanks for any input. It is running XP would i have to move to vista?

You could use the 295GTX for the main monitor and a single 8800GTX for the remaining 2. You'll only be able to game on the main monitor anyway so no need for any sort of special card to drive the other 2.

Thanks for the response guys! yes i want the 8800 GTXs just for now as they are the overclocked and watercooled BFG version and crush any game i play on full settings. What i was wanting ideally was keeping these and putting a 295 in to run another monitor and use all three for stretching the game over then to play on all 3 monitors, Typhoon could i not do this then? Just a quicky aswell would i be better off using vista for more performance aswell? see setup below. I dont really want to move to vista due to all the issues with sli etc or have these been resolved and if so what drivers would i need? really appreciate your help guys.

If you're using 2 different cards the other card can be used for dedicated physics, but not normal graphics use.

and using a GTX 295 for physics...hah!

I'd sell your 8800's and buy another GTX 295.

Also...assuming you have 4GB of ram 32bit XP will be limiting you - it doesn't recognise the full 4GB.

You will just need to download the 64bit vista drivers for your graphics card.

Microwave, what i was meaning aswell though is there is a sli problen in vista for gaming as it doesnt recognise the 2nd card. Has this been resolved? I have the 4gb kit, what will it be limiting me with though exactly, i know it doesnt pick up the full 4gb but what advamntages would i have from it? So just to clarify will i be to setup sli on vista is anyone on here doing this and what drivers would i need? Thanks. p.s could i then use triple monitor setup this way or not?

Typhoon sorry to be a pain but are you saying one 295 would be better performance than my 8800s for the main monitor? Just checking as when i looked at the specs of my cards the seem better than the 295, they are the overclocked bfg version? I like the idea of your 2nd option on your link typhoon, are the graphics good at that res and would my cards cope? what res does this mean each monitor in theory will be? Thanks mate.

....erm yes. A single 295GTX is definatey superior to any number of 8800GTX's you could get into a system.
Graphics aren't any different to normal, just higher resolution. Remeber pictures are not stretched when you game in triple screen, there is just more of it on screen at one time. Obviously frames per second will take a hit as you go up resolutions. Seeing as the 295GTX is the fastest card around I would say it will cope (otherwise the rest of us mortals with more everyday cards wouldn't stand a snowball chance in hell :D)

Thanks typhoon just one last one so could i set this up as triple screen then with that hardware you stated earlier? and whats the best way to set it up? cheers.
