Hi

Got a Cosmos Rc1000 case and despite every attempt to improve the wiring I always feel if it could be better.

See attached pics and see what you think that I could do Improve the cabling ?

Many thanks for looking

If I were you I would strip all the cables out and start fresh, taking your time to plan it all out before plugging anything in. Use cable ties where you can to hold cables out of view.

Get as many of the cables around the back of the board as possible. Any that you can't get around, hide in the front bays etc. If you need extensions, then get them as it makes all the difference.

I have a Fortress FT01 and have also installed in an Antec 300, and both are very very tidy, mainly because of time well spent planning, rather than rushing in and then trying to tidy up a mess.

Hopefully these pics will help you. Also take a look at my build log to see what I did with the cables in my Fortress... http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17982540

thanks for the reply's. Would it also help if I got a modular PSU instead of my Silverstone 850watt.

Also thanks for the Pics. It has certainly pointed me in the right direction

Yes a modular PSU will help, but it isn't the be-all, end-all. Try sorting things out with what you have first.

Also might be in the wrong place to pout this but is the cpu cooler also the right way round because on must have the build logs that I've seen on here and elsewhere the fan is always pointing to the front of the case and not the way I have it at the moment. So if that is wrong then I will change it round aswell.

It will still work as you have it now, however having it pointing towards the front of the case as you suggest is often better for airflow as it is getting cleaner air (I would imagine where the fan is now is pulling warm air off the graphics card) and the fan on the back of the case works in conjuction with the fan on the CPU cooler to pull air through.

Looking at his pics, I think he has clearance problems over the Corsair heatspreader.

I take it that the CPU cooler fan faces up towards were 2 optional? exhaust fans could be. The other alternative would be to remove the heatspreader and rotate the cooler 90 degrees.

The computer obviously works ok, so do as already suggested, and replan your cable routing using extensions as required. The other extreme would be heavy modding of the motherboard mounting plate involving slot and hole cutting!!!!

I'm not sure he would have clearance issues, the actual heatsink isn't that thick, so even with the fan on it may well have the space required. It takes more space with the fan facing down as he has it.

The only way to find out is to try mind :).

Morning All. I've rotated the cooler round 90 degrees which went fine but then hit a snag. The fan won't fit to the Titan cooler due to the ram heat spreader so at the moment it out of the system and In goes the Intel Stock cooler for the moment which is horrible.

The way I see it at the moment is either look for
1. Ram which has a lower profile heat spreader.
2. Buy a Corsair H50-1 kit and sell the Titan.

Many thanks

A problem that I pointed out earlier in thread baron02...lol

The other options are

1. Looking at the RAM in your pic, you can remove the heatspreader via the 3 small socket head screws, from the first RAM slot to get clearance.

2. Offset the fan slightly so it just sits above the RAM

Both of these cost nowt!...lol

Ok I've taken all the idea's on board and after a few hours I've think I've improved the wiring inside the case.

I will be ordering a Corsair H50-1 when I paid on monday from OCUK.

Please see enclosed pic's and let me know what you think.

Case makes a huge difference to what is possible IMO. I've just spent the best part of 4 hours installing my machine into a new Lian Li PC-A71F after finally (after about 8 years) making my Coolermaster ATCS-201-SXK redundant. The coolermaster was cramped with the amount of kit I had in it (mainly due to the 6 HDD's), but the Lian Li is beautiful to work with, plenty of space, and now you only see the cables that you absolutely have to.

If this was my case, I'd be cutting a hole in that motherboard tray at the top for routing the 8 pin CPU power cable behind the tray, and a bigger hole at the bottom to make routing the cables easier.

You've definitely improved it compared to the first picture though, but it could still be better yet.

I'm the same with my systems, I always feel that I could do better cable management, I'm never happy with mine!

Very neat, given me a few ideas to tidy up my a70fb.:)
