Hi

Ive built this system and it does run very well but can it be better.

CPU i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, O'c to 4Ghz on air
Motherboard Z97X-Gaming 3 v.1.0
RAM 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer
2 x SSD RAID Samsung 850 500GB in RAID 0
4 x HDD 1TB Seagate
2 x Zotac GeForce GTX 980Ti AMP Extreme Edition 6GB
4K Samsung 26" screen
OS Win10 Pro
PSU 1200Watts

4 x 120mm fans
3 x 80mm fans

Plus a cheap case :o I want a case thats not a traditional PC shaped.

Anyway shower your praise or ridicule let it flow. If you could say why that would be great.

He has a pair of 980 ti's. Go put your glasses on. :p

That's a very nice build and should last you for a good while. What do you mean by a case that doesn't look like a traditional shaped computer case? A cube case? What budget do you have in mind for it?

Also I would add that those 80mm fans need to go unless that's a typo as 80mm will be noisy go for 120 or 140 for your case. Also what is your cpu cooler? Maybe look at a full custom loop.

That's a pretty good build, but you can go better (probably just a waste of money if you're content with an i5). You could go i7-4790k, 6700k or even x99. Obviously the only real advantage of moving to i7 is the hyper-threading (and extra cores if you go X99), but for gaming there would be very VERY little gain.

A nice case for all that would probably be the Corsair Air 540 with the large side window to show off the RAM LED's

Thanks for these comments.

I bought the i5 at a time i didn't have the money to go for the i7.

The I5 is under a stock air cooler. I did have a Zalman ZD1225BTR on there but it broke down.

The 4k is just fine on the one 980ti. At least I don't notice any problems when on one 980ti.

Yes they are 80mm fans. Its pretty quiet when not under load but a whole different story when under load!

Corsair Air 540 case looks very cool. Hadn't seen that one. The present case is an old TINY PC case!!! Beige and nasty. I was looking more steam punk style or an Orac (Blakes7) style. There's a pyramid case but its too small for this build and i can't find anyone to build it for me.

Theres no budget just has to be right.

This motherboard takes a M2 SSD though im a bit confused on the read write speeds. Some say 3000mb per write others say 550mb per write. The latter being roughly a standard SSD write speed
