Can triple ddr3 ram be used as dual as normal?

I bought some extremely misleading ram on ebay which was listed as 2x2 ddr3 1600mhz ram. It turns out that's it's hx312g1600c9 triple slot, and I've got 2/3rds of it :/ I got 2 sets too and it's all showing up as 8gb of ram absolutely fine but instead of the full 1600mhz, it's only showing up as 1333mhz. I'm concerned it may affect my overclock on the 2500k, but admittedly haven't tried yet.

Does anyone know if it's forced at 1333mhz because it's triple ram instead of dual? Or is there a way around this?

Great! I did what you guys said and it's forced the ram fine...and the 2500k is now clocked to 4.6ghz nicely at low temps.

Will push it more tomorrow thanks for the help! Appreciated
