Can we expect a price drop on the X2 range?

Well i was thinking of getting an X2 CPU to replace my A64 3200+ Wichester.
I was thinking of the 4400+ because of the 1Mb L2 cache that it uses but the price is quite steep for my budget.
When does the M2 socket comes out for Amd? I am sure that the current CPU's prices shall drop quite a lot, won't they?

Ahh yes noticed the price change and the article, but what about further ahead, if rumours of a April AM2 socket launch are true, will we see further reductions in the s939 cpu's?

Your Thoughts gentleman...

i think we have started seeing a small price drop already, what with half of the X2's being on This Week Only... could just be a coincidence...

also they've called it AM2 now, not M2 ;)
not sure of the arrival date yet

i dont think 939 will die that quickly to be honest.
but i think AMD want to move quickly to the new AM2 format... what with the new range of processors coming out on that format, and they're migrating a few processors from 939 to AM2 as well...
they want to kill off the current 940 (to make way for AM2 which will be the new 940), the migration of Opterons to 939 has started of course... and have pretty much killed 754.
I hear mixed reports about their server chips going to 939 or the new socket F... some say that the start of the new Opterons going to 939 is just the beginning with the rest to follow - other things i've read seem to imply that they'll be using socket F in the future

Well the price drops convinced me, ordered the X2 4800 today for my gaming system.

The price drop helped convince me, but after seeing the performance of the X2 4400 in a system I built at the weekend, was looking at the 4800 anyhow.. :)

i need to buy a new cpu asap..

selling my current cpu (bidding site)

im wanting the dual core 4400, but ill need money from my cpu to go into the bank before i can afford the 4400... ill be pc-less this monday tuesday next week.... ah well :p
