Can wireless keyboards wake a system?

Planning on using my old laptop (XP, broken screen) in the living room with a monitor and wireless keyboard.

I was wondering, given the receiver is a USB plug, can I actually make the system sleep/wake via the wireless keyboard, or do I still need to walk over to the laptop to do this. Cos when in sleep mode, wondering how the USB receiver actually works... ANd on XP?

Was thinking of getting either the keysonic (despite bad range review?) or the Emprex Wireless Media Centre Edition Keyboard.

Thanks!!!

i believe that it will only work with PS2 connectors, however, there is nothing stoping you getting a USB to PS2 adapter. This would allow you to plug it in as if it where a PS2 but you could still connect a USB wireless keyboard. However, i could be wrong.

The wireless keyboard should wake the laptop, however, I find that you must press the sync button on the transmitter to wake that up, then the keyboard will work. This does all mean that you need to walk over to the laptop.

Right well the laptop doesn't have a ps/2 slot.....

Do all models of keyboards(including the keysonic) have the synch button on the wireless transmitter?
