Just wondering if an x1800xt with a Conroe E6300 will be able to run Oblivion at the widescreen resolution of 1440x900?. Oblivion looks so nice on a widescreen monitor.

I know that 1440x900 actually has fewer pixels than 1280x1024 but what would be the performance difference between these two res. be? (On oblivion)

I'd like to know this too, I'll be getting my widescreen monitor soon.

I would have thought that the x1800 wouldn't have a problem running Oblivion at this res if it can do 1280x1024 perfectly well.

Not much I would say it will handle it with ease and if it doesn't just down the AA to 2x since 4x you wont be able to tell the difference between the two unless you stand around staring which we don't do while playing games. It should handle it fine as long as the game has the option to display it in widescreen. If not there are ways to make it display widescreen which I won't go into but if it is needed just say and I'll dig it out.

My 7800Gt does those resolutions fine and the X1800XT is more powerful so you should be fine.

Thx for the replies. I saw a good offer for a 19" widescreen that was too good to pass up. Glad that my x1800xt will be doing it justice :)

I have an x1800 XT with Acer 19" 1440x900. Runs most things very well indeed. Not tried oblivion but can vouch for COD2, BF2, Quake 4, Prey and NFSMW. All full detail at 1440x900.

i have two 7600GTs and single card runs quake 4 on 20" viewsonic widescreen, two makes it completely different experience, another half original frame/second added on top, brilliant for mid-range cards :D
