Hi.
I'm beginning a new build soon, and ive stripped down my old pc.
I have 2 120mm Akasa Amber fans, and 1 92mm Amber fan. My question is basically.....are there any fans offering better airflow, and less noise than the Ambers?
Any recomendations would be great.

I seem to be the only person who thinks Yate Loons are not as good as they are painted, probably fine if you have a fan controller or run it at 7v, but at full pelt they are/were noisy and I had to replace my two for ambers, much, much quieter and shift roughly the same amount of air.
A few people say the Sharkoons are pretty good, I think you get two different variations one that spins at 1,000 rpm and the other runs at 2,000 rpm, they will go in my next build for sure.

What model Yateloons have you got?
Mine are far quieter than the Amber I have.

I don't like the sound of the ambers either, yateloons woosh, my 38mm panaflo roars, but the akasa's buzz. Its an irritable noise.

Hi,
I have just bought 2 Scyth S-Flex 1600 120m fans and I am NOT impressed. They are far too noisy. I will repalce them soon and ask for help on the forums.

Depends on what the fan is being used for...

For Rear Case fan/cpu then Nexus 120mm @ 7v
For Front Case Fan 1200rpm 120mm Noctua @ 7v

For Horizantol Flow 120mm FAN eg.. for PSU or HR-03 then Scythe 800RPM or 1200RPM

You can't win really...

I bought some zalman 80 and 120 despite people saying they were noisey and they are almost silent without the 7v drop down and as close to silent as you will get on 7v... whereas the ambers which everyone said were really quiet aren't any quieter than the generic fans that came with the case... but I've also seen (or heard) the other way around too...

Nexus black/white 120mm fans, £5.37 a piece with rubber fan mounts. Absolute bargain and one of, if not the best low noise fan you can buy.

i did a comparative test, with an independant silent PSU.

the Amber was as loud as the noctua and moved much more air. i don't have the sortof equipment that would allow me to quantitively measure just how much more it moved, but it was a significant amount.
