If you're concerned about doing it yourself don't be, It's kinda laughable me saying that as I've been too scared to do it so far as well, However, I've been watching all the delidding video's I've come across for a while now, Not just one video but loads of them so that I see it being done by lots of different people to familiarize myself with doing it, The next stage will be buying myself a delidder & once I have the delidder I'm hoping I'll have grown the gonads to do it myself. :D

Having done a delid now, with a tool (Delid mate 2 in my case) I would not be put off doing it again. Still scary though.

I'm cack-handed and I've successfully de-lidded two CPUs now, a 4770K and a 8700K. This is with a blade. The consequences of a balls-up are dire but I wouldn't say that the likelihood of a balls-up is that high if you're methodical and careful. At your own risk of course, but I have little practical skill and have managed it fine.

Just. Take. It. Slow.

I for one wish that OCUK offered a service like they have in the states where you can pay them to delid CPU's you bought from them historically.
