Hello all,

I've been looking around to build a new computer to play BF3 on ultra/high settings as well as other modern games. I found this build on the net that was boasting to be able to play bf3 for under $800.

• Processor: AMD HDT90ZFBGRBOX Phenom II 1090T Black Edition Six Core Processor ($164.99)
• ASUS M5A78L-M LX AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard ($59.99)
• XION XON-160P ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 500 watt psu ($49.99)
• PNY Optima MD4096SD3-1333 Desktop Memory Module – 4GB ($24.99)
• Hitachi 0F10383 Deskstar 7K1000.C Hard Drive – 1TB, 3.5″, 7200 RPM, SATA 3G, 32MB ($69.99)
• XFX HD-695X-ZNDC Radeon HD 6950 XXX Video Card – 1GB ($224.99)
• Lite-On IHAS124-04 Internal DVD Writer ($18.99)

$609 (dollars, not sure if prices will be different for UK etc)

OR..

• Asus GTX560Ti
• Intel i5 Sandybridge 3.3Ghz
• Asus P8P67 Pro Motherboard
• 8GB Corsair Vengence RAM
• Corsair TX950 PSU
• Win7 64Bit

£700 without looking for best prices. - Haven't yet looking for case, and I can get win7 at a discounted price through my work.

I'm no expert on builing my own computer.. In fact this is my first time doing it. I'm not a complete hardware noob but by no means am I an expert either. If any of you could offer some advice.. Or post a better build for a similiar price that would be greatly appreciated.

My maximum budget is £800. I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse as well as 2 150gb hard drives.

Thanks in advance for your help,

K

So long as your current hdds are ata not IDE this would work. Slight cuts on mono and psu. You couldn't go sli in future, but 570>560

dont even consider the first spec trying to run a 6950 with psu thats $50 and that includes a case.

2nd one is better all round running the i5 sandybridge processor, 560ti gfx card with an overkill on the psu (but would help if you wanted to sli the 560ti at a later date)

edit: spec

went with psu option to allow sli/crossfire if needs be, could reduce the cost of the psu and motherboard if thats not needed.

as K_D mentioned hard drives will need to be sata.

not included the o/s.

you could swap the 560ti for a 2gb 6950 and the price would go up to £745.92.
