Can you check a PC Spec for my friend

Hey peeps,

My friend has finally decided that console gaming is not as good as PC gaming :cool:

Used to play tons of BF2 on pc with him and now hes wants to get back into the PC gaming (BFBC2 & BF3 when its out). His budget is £800 max, He already has a kb/mouse and HD monitor. This is what i have come up with for now, do note we havent added a graphics card yet which is be in the £200'ish region (Radeon 6950).

Is this spec ok or is there something we could do better?

Hey mate, So isn't not worth getting a Sata3 harddrive over Sata2 one? also doesnt the CPU ive not chosen overclock? Yeh bundle could be an idea.

I'd also suggest the Samsung F3 1tb.

SATA III's just aren't worth it.

Only the K cpus overclock.

A mechanical harddrive cant come close to filling the bandwidth of SATA3.0, even SATA2.0 isn't needed, its a marketing gimmick.

Also, why the Scout? Its not the best case for that money by any means!

A CM Dominator is pretty damned decent, however

Similarly, that board isn't much good. Foxconn P67A-S is though!

Is the CPU going to be overclocked or not??

If not I would get a Core i5 2400 and a slightly cheaper motherboard.

You could put the rest into the graphics card.

OP has already budgeted for a HD6950 - a wise choice.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, So i'll swap the harddrive to a sammy F3, Scout is a good enough case (i have it lol). I will want it to be overclockable so i guess the K cpu is required. Heres what i have at the moment...

Looking ok now?

Look okay - although you could get cheaper alternatives. Though you definitely need a decent graphics card (and a decent monitor! hehhee!)

Can you post reasons why because i dont know if your'e neing serious or just messing around. I doubt he will get another graphics card other than the 6950, surely thats plenty?

so with the Antec your paying £2 more for modular and a higher wattage.

with the XFX your saving £7 for a higher wattage.
