It's a little over the £300, but I'm struggling to put together a system for less that would meet your needs (You could maybe save a little bit on the case and go down to 2gb of ram, but these are small savings). With the spec you've put up, I doubt the graphics card would run L4D very well, infact it might even barely run it. The 3450 is ATi's budget range and not meant for anything graphically demanding, and while L4D isn't the most demanding game, you really would struggle to run it. The 4670 is a good budget gaming card, so long as it you don't expect it to run any of the modern games at high detail on a 1680*1050 monitor.
The motherboard I've shown is the cheapest OCUK do, but does seem to support AM2+, so should be able to take the 7850 without too many problems, but you may have to flash a new bios to accept it properly.
What is the resolution of the monitor you plan on using? Also as above, do you already have an OS?
I think ro55o spec is prob the best you can get for the money.
If you get the cheapest GFX card possible you will have no chance of playing any new games. At least with the 4670 you can prob play them on low detail
