This is an upgrade from an xp2500, and geforce 6800gt

So hopefully it should be a good improvement! :D

Do you plan on doing any over clocking? If so get the Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P, its an extra twenty pounds but worth it.

I plan to overclock a bit, well... at least maybe try to! .

I got recommended this board earlier as im on a pretty tight budget. Is there a big difference between the two?

Im basically new to all of this these days. Last time i upgraded was to my xp2500 years ago

Its better if your budget can stretch to it. If it can't then its fine the spec you have will do nicely. :)

Sorry to pester you, but can you explain the advantage for me getting the more expensive board?

because i may have to force myself if the need is big enough lol

The DS3P offers Firewire, dual GPU capability, solid state capacitors, guaranteed support for 1333FSB.

If you are planning on using 2 graphics cards or need Firewire and looking for a huge overclock then you need the DS3P. Otherwise the S3 is a good board and will allow you to overclock.

Make sure you have a decent PSU if your current one is as old as the xp2500 it may not cope with that

Psu will be a tagan 480w - u01

when it returns from rma lol

PSU will be fine. If you do plan to add a second card or increase the power in your overclocking, it wouldnt hurt to update it, but dont bust a gut.
