after trying since the start of the month, it is apparent that i can't. being unemployed leaves time for great experiments such as this, i have been staying up late to the point where i should be able to drop off with ease but if i try and fall to sleep lay on my back, i just cant and i try for about an hour but if i lay on my side, it's lights out!

Same here, sides or front.
Only time I've slept on my back is when I was in hospital on a lot of painkillers. :p

I can only do it in the mornings, "lie in" sleep! At night I must lie on my front, or nearly. Sleep parlysis is also a factor, doesn't seem to happen in daylight.

Same here, fall asleep on my front, wake up always on my back! Managed it a few times, only in cramped conditions like when camping etc.

Im the same as you, which makes things sore when camping with those silly we camping mats (even the inflatable ones) that only work if your weight is spread across the whole thing.

Same here. I either sleep on my side or my front. But those few times I have been able to get to sleep on my back have been the most relaxing nights sleep that I can remember.

Never fall asleep on my back, similarly I can't fall asleep in chairs either. Its a pain when on a long haul flight all you want to do is sleep but you can't because you can't lie on your front.

I can only sleep on my back. And I have to lie on my right side for a couple of minutes first.

Can't sleep on my side, but can't sleep without having lain on my side :/
