Can you fold a data ribbon?

I bought 1 of these for my 3d printer to have better access to the sd card, but the cable is too long. so can you fold and seriously flatten the ribbon without damaging it?

I'm modding the sd reader something similar to this.
 
Yeah if it’s anything like the old IDE cables then you can fold it no probs. Never had one fail but horrible looking things :D

Most ribbon cables are designed to fold, however don't push pressure on/pinch the fold itself, fasten it a bit below the fold if retaining it against something and don't tuck it under something which will put pressure on the folded bit as that will have an impact on lifespan. (If it is the flat conductor type you definitely don't want to pinch the fold).

Thanks guys all done, just folded the cable, pinched it a bit as you can see and stuck a bit of tape around to hold it.. Not a brilliant job but you cant see the ribbon from the front and thats all that matters. I did a 7hr print last night without any problems...
