Can you get me to 4.8Ghz?

Hi all,

I've used the auto setting on my mobo to get me to 4.6Ghz. After plenty of IBT testing the highest temp is 69 degrees and max volts is 1.328.

Can I get to 4.8Ghz with manual settings (and lower temps/volts)? If so, can you guide me through all the settings i need? I'm a novice overclocker :o

Your expertise is appreciated ;)

Can't speak for the specifics of the E4G3, but basics just fire in a 48 MP, adjust voltage as you go and increase LLC.

On the Asus boards there are some specific settings required above 4.6ghz, trying to find what they are now.

Yeah I remember reading that over 4.6 you need to change some different settings, so that's why I went for the simple 4.6ghz.

Whack the multiplier to 48, or do it via boost, and with your current voltage i'd say put it to 1.36, perhaps 1.37, and see if that boots.

now i set the voltage at 1.385 but i didnt try any lower (im on water i didnt care :P) so you can start at that voltage and work your way back.. im on a 2600k but should work the same way for a 2500k also!

another thing is im running my ram at SILLY speeds there and therefor the mem multi is not ideal.. setting ram to 1600mhz is probably a better idea before trying for 4.8 :)

Success! I'm at 4.8Ghz which should last me a good while :)

Big thanks go to zx|muppet! I copied your settings (my bios is almost identical) and after stress testing with IBT the average temp never went above 66 degrees, which i'm happy with.

Thanks again!

glad i could help mate :) you can try dropping the v core little by little to see if you can get a lower voltage also. as stated above i done it just to see if i could get 4.8 near the top end of the voltage. never tried lower but did hit 5.2ghz :P

Is 4.8GHz fairley easy to get? Would you need a good mobo to get to these sorts of speeds? Also would you need water - or a good air cooler? Well done with the 4.8 :D

4.8 is achievable on air with a £30 cooler. But you want a fairly decent motherboard that has all bios settings unlocked (LLC and manual volts for example)

i.e. not mine :p

Although 4.5GHz is fine for gaming.
